FL350 - INTOL – SALPU – ORARO

Loss of Control - Inflight (LOC-I)

Near the TASIL point, in international waters off Brazil


On 31 May 2009, Air France flight 447 (AF 447) took off from Rio de Janeiro Galeão airport (SBGL) bound for Paris Charles de Gaulle (LFPG) airport.

 

The Airbus 330-200 (A330) aircraft was in contact with the Brazilian ATLANTICO ATC centre on the INTOL – SALPU – ORARO route at FL350. 


At around 0214Z on 01 June 2009, AF 447 crashed near the TASIL waypoint, in international waters, in the Atlantic Ocean. AF 447 was carrying a total of 228 people (3 flight crew; 9 cabin crew, and 216 passengers).
