Weather was a contributing factors in 46% of Fatal Accidents between 2014 and 2018, according to IATA. 


What's more, 33% of All Accidents during this same period were weather-related, according to IATA's 2018 Safety Report.

John Dutcher

John Dutcher currently teaches the Safety Oversight of Aviation Meteorological Services course at Singapore Aviation Academy; as well as the Aviation Weather Risk Management course.


John was a contributing author to the re-write of the ICAO Manual of Aircraft Accident and Incident Investigation - Part III – Investigation (Doc 9756) including the Investigation of Meteorological Conditions in Chapter 5; and Chapter 1. John has taught Meteorology in Aircraft Accident Investigation at Southern California Safety Institute with Australian meteorologist Martin Babakian. He has also taught advanced weather-related courses to aircraft accident investigators in South Africa; and CAA Inspectors in Nigeria.
